NOT very many local artistes venture into the less lucrative Hip-Hop music. Black Reign is one of the few that have dared. This quartet recently released its maiden single, Money.
The song is already gaining favour on local FM radio stations that like Sanyu FM and Hot 100 FM.The militant rhymes of Nico; the smooth vocal delivery of Lady Ryke (a female vocalist the group featured) and the lethargic flow of Row make the song unique.
There is also the rapid-fire rap delivery of Krac and the incredible voice of J Rock, which factors make the song a potential club banger. The track takes us back to the roots of Hip-Hop music.
On the song, the artistes discuss the social-economic upheavals of money in society.
A catchy piano loop and some great use of samples are some of the highpoints of Money. The heavy bass line given to the song also keeps things going.
