U.S. military interrogators reportedly have turned to loud rap and heavy metal music in an effort to convince Muslim prisoners to cooperate.
Spin magazine, in its December issue, reports that musical talents as diverse as Eminem, Britney Spears and Barney the dinosaur have been enlisted for this front in the war on terrorism.
Interrogators at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, pump up the volume to flood rooms with the music to get detainees to talk, the magazine reports.
With rap acts such as Tupac, Dr. Dre and Eminem getting heavy rotation, the military also uses head-banging, heavy metal acts such as Metallica and Marilyn Manson, Spin said. They toss in the odd Britney Spears pop song with some classic rock 'n' roll but sometimes add in a softer side with Barney, the magazine said.
