Divine Delegate! Divine Delegation is the master secret of achievement. The Prayer and Prophetic assignment can not be delegated. The person that knows what to do will always have a job. The person that knows why will always be the boss.
Educator Howard Hendricks once noted, "Any time you do for someone else what they are capable of doing for themselves, you are helping to create an emotional cripple." As leaders, our job is to develop leaders, not just good followers. God wants everyone serving. Ephesians 4:11-13 and 1 Peter 4:10,11 make that point clear. Leaders are developed as we entrust them with greater levels of responsibility and decision making Delegation is the master secret because it accomplishes three task. Delegation is giving a task for someone else to perform. Delegation is one of the attributes of a great Mentor. A mentor will create a reward system for His protégés. A senior master architect will surround himself with Protégés and junior partners. A master architect can do the work of ten architects, or get ten architects to do the job. DL Moody said " I would rather get 10 men working than to have to do the work of ten men." Jesus is the master "Architect". Master-builder translates architekton from which the English word "architect" is derived. A tekton was an ordinary carpenter. The architekton was a combination architect and craftsman/contractor. Read Matthew 14.
Delegation is the master secret because it accomplishes three task.
Matthew 14:13-14When Jesus got the news, he slipped away by boat to an out-of-the-way place by himself. But unsuccessfully—someone saw him and the word got around. Soon a lot of people from the nearby villages walked around the lake to where he was. When he saw them coming, he was overcome with pity and healed their sick. 15Toward evening the disciples approached him. "We're out in the country and it's getting late. Dismiss the people so they can go to the villages and get some supper." 16But Jesus said, "There is no need to dismiss them. You give them supper." 17"All we have are five loaves of bread and two fish," they said. 18-21Jesus said, "Bring them here." Then he had the people sit on the grass. He took the five loaves and two fish, lifted his face to heaven in prayer, blessed, broke, and gave the bread to the disciples. The disciples then gave the food to the congregation. They all ate their fill. They gathered twelve baskets of leftovers. About five thousand were fed.
God is looking for designated Player to accomplish His will on earth. The designated player will compensate for human weakness and disobedience. The inability to focus and complete a task is the inheritance and birth right of man and the disappointment and enemy of God. Adam God delegated his authority to name the animals to Adam. God chose and entrusted the earth to the frailty of Adam. But, He had to use Jesus the 2nd Adam to save creation. God also delegated Noah to the building of the ark. Stephen and Philip were promoted because they were faithful deacons. Philip became a great evangelist. Stephen became the churches first martyr. Adam became a participant in creation. Noah was promoted from ship builder/architect to builder/architect of the altar of God and (2nd Adam typology) tiller of the soil.
When should a person Delegate. The Prayer and Prophetic assignment can not be delegated. We delegate when our responsibilities are greater than our capacities (time, energy or abilities are the factors). Luke 22:39-46 (The Message) 41-44 He pulled away from them about a stone's throw, knelt down, and prayed, "Father, remove this cup from me. But please, not what I want. What do you want?" At once an angel from heaven was at his side, strengthening him. He prayed on all the harder. Sweat, wrung from him like drops of blood, poured off his face. 45-46He got up from prayer, went back to the disciples and found them asleep, drugged by grief. He said, "What business do you have sleeping? Get up. Pray so you won't give in to temptation."
Delegation will reveal the three types of people.
In his book Seven Habits of Highly Effective People Steven Covey writes: "With immature people, you specify fewer desired results and more guidelines, identify more resources, conduct more frequent accountability interviews, and apply more immediate consequences. With more mature people, you have more challenging desired results, fewer guidelines, less frequent accountability, and less measurable but more discernable criteria." |
