Uganda: Chris Tomlin Coming to Town

Multiple award winning Christian worship artiste Chris Tomlin will be in Kampala at the end of May, according to the artiste's website christomlin.com. Tomlin will be part of the Passion Kampala concert that will be held at Makerere University on May 30 and 31.

The American artiste has won the Male Artiste of the Year award for three consecutive years, more recently in Gospel music's biggest night at the 39th Annual GMA (Dove) Music Awards held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee on April 23.

He's better known songs include; Amazing Grace, Indescribable and How Great Is Our God. Tomlin will hold performances alongside Passion-- an international movement uniting a wave of university students who are living to make Jesus famous in their generation.

The team consists of renowned rock gospel artistes like; Matt Redman, the David Crowder band and Charlie Hall, speakers like Louie Giglio, Francis Chan and Hollywood actor Kirk Cameron of the Left Behind series.

Passion world tours have seen the movement hold a range of concerts in Jakarta, Vancouver, Hong Kong, Sydney, Seoul, Mexico City, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Paris, Sao Paolo, Stockholm and Kyiv.

Speaking at the launch of the mobilization campaign, Jerome Ntege -- the Passion Kampala concert coordinator said; "We are privileged to host the Kampala version of this event live here at Makerere, a big contingent will be arriving soon with all their music equipment directly shipped from the United States."

The planned concert adds to Uganda's fast-growing list of celebrated gospel artiste performances, as in a space of two years, the country has hosted Cece Winans, Matt Olsen and Papa San. Kirk Franklin is also set to perform on the 22nd of this month.
