Weight of the Anointing

Weight of the Anointing
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall depart from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed by reason of fatness.

There are different levels of intimacy with God. Deeper intimate Prayer has shown that the anointing has a heavier weight. The myrrh in the anointing oil, though it was a liquid, was measured by weight. And weight speaks of the Glory of God, the weightiness of His presence.  Going Deeper is a study in the Word, for the purpose of strengthening your hidden life in God (Col. 3:3). Thought provoking and heart examining revelations of God’s Word that will challenge you to experience the depths of the wisdom, knowledge and love of God. Janet Vega

There is a Weight of the Anointing-Glory of God. The heavy weight of this anointing is overwhelmingly spectacular. Sometimes it is too heavy for the human to carry.

The fifth ingredient in the anointing oil was, of course, olive oil. It was measured the normal way liquids were measured, by capacity. This speaks of volume, magnitude, ability and use.

So we see at least three dimensions of the anointing.

  • Weight – Influence, power, impact and imprint of the substance of God’s Glory in us and flowing through us.

  • Length – Territory, sphere and measure of rule God has given us to live and function in.

  • Capacity – The volume and magnitude of the ability of God working in and through us according to use.

Deep calls unto deep. The unsearchable riches and knowledge of God is treasured in the deep. The secret things of God are in the deep.

Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! (Romans 11:33; see also Job 9:1-4; 36:5; Isaiah 31:1-2).

Exodus 30:24 (The Message)

Holy Anointing Oil :

22-25 God spoke to Moses: "Take the best spices: twelve and a half pounds of liquid myrrh; half that much, six and a quarter pounds, of fragrant cinnamon; six and a quarter pounds of fragrant cane; twelve and a half pounds of cassia—using the standard Sanctuary weight for all of them—and a gallon of olive oil. Make these into a holy anointing oil, a perfumer's skillful blend.

“Also take for yourself quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane, five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil.” Exodus 30:23, 24

Something that I found interesting here was that the myrrh, even though it is liquid, was measured by weight. And weight speaks of the Glory of God, the weightiness of His presence, influence and power. Four out of the five ingredients in the anointing oil was measured by weight.
