THEY are a new group of five singers who have come up to use their talent to support church activities.

The Choristers, comprising Mathew Ajobe, Sandra Nakalanzi, Barbara Nankumba, Lawrence Sebatta and Frank Wamala, announce their arrival with a six-track project titled Nzize Gyoli Maama Maria.

On Sunday, the group will launch their debut album at Nsambya Youth Sharing Hall. Entrance fee is sh5,000 for adults and sh3,000 for students and children. Proceeds from the show will go towards the development of St Joseph Church in Kyengera which will soon become a parish.

The album opener, Nzize Gyoli Maama is a saxophone-led story of hopelessness. The song, about the social problems of divorce and broken homes, beckons Mother Mary to intercede for her children.

The song has the Choristers' voices full of emotion as they sing it. Their vocals veer from tender to strong, while the saxophone picks up at the end of the chorus and breathes fresh air into the song. Nzize Gyoli Maama gives you an idea of what is yet to come.

For such great voices, the Choristers settled for a simple production, which is credited to Oscar Tamale of BK Studios.

However, keeping their music in the confines of the church could limit their audience.
