Fortifi@ Radio #16 7 Character Issues to Negotiate To a Healthy You Part 1

7 Character  Issues to Negotiate To a Healthy You

7 Negotiable Points to a Healthy Yes

Can we talk frankly today? Every important Music Ministry Yes requires a thousand Nos. (veto; denial, negation, refusal, nay, disallowance,  no,  rejection, decline, rebuff, repudiation; negative). I would like to gift you with reasons to render a thousand nos for  every yes that you will render in 2008. Most of the Music Ministry will face a dilemma in the following areas. These areas will require the Music Ministry Yes requiring a thousand Nos.
  • Spiritually
  • Mentally
  • financially
  • Physically
  • Emotionally
  • Socially
  • Musical

Simply, when a musician says yes to the Music Ministry their are a thousand nos that will render the yes! effective.

• Saying “no” is not selfish. Instead it frees up your time so you can spend more of it with friends and family.
• Saying “no” will allow you more time and energy to pursue your dreams or try out new hobbies.
• If you say “yes” too much, it could cause you to feel stressed out, angry, resentful or tired, which doesn’t benefit anybody.
• You’re not the only musician who can do the requested task. Have faith in other musicians abilities to help you out or take your place.

Positive Nos

for instance, you could say:

“I’m sorry, but this is not a good time to talk about this. Let’s talk about it this afternoon.”
•“Let me think about it and I’ll get back to you tomorrow.”
•“I need to consult my partner.”
•“Let me make a phone call to check something first.”

•“Why don’t we take a break?”
•“Time-out for five minutes.”
•“Would you excuse me? I need a coffee refill.”

e of the greatest dilemmas in the Music Ministry is most of say yes when we really want to say no. Most of our life dilemmas are caused by our declared yes. More tears are shed over answered prayers than unanswered ones. Great character occurs when the music ministry can engineer a healthy yes. Your persuasions about the Music Ministry need assessment and correction. Your yes and no will give you life or destruction.

Proverb 18:20 Words satisfy the mind as much as fruit does the stomach; good talk is as gratifying as a good harvest. 21 Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit—you choose

William Ury states "Perhaps the single biggest mistake we make when we say No is to start from No. We derive our No from what we are against–the other’s demand or behavior. A Positive No calls on us to do the exact opposite and base our No on what we are for. Instead of starting from No, start from Yes. Root your No in a deeper Yes–a Yes to your core interests and to what truly matters."

Imagine those in the Music Ministry who say yes to "Jesus" can not say no to excesses in life. Lets be honest the alcoholic can not say no to another drink. In other words, the Music Ministry that says yes healing virtues of Jesus, can not refuse a Greasy, deep fried, vein clogging delicacies-ham sandwich, hostess cupcakes. Just like Sampson who could not say no to Delilah, the Music Ministry is perplexed by the dichotomy of living.
