Elvis ranks No. 1, earning $49 million in the last year to top a group that includes a couple of Beatles: John Lennon at No. 2 with $44 million and George Harrison at No. 4 with $22 million.
Tupac Shakur, gunned down in 1996, returned to the top 13 after a four-year absence with a paycheck of $9 million.
James Brown, who died last December, made his debut at 11th place with $5 million, ahead of reggae legend Bob Marley with $4 million and 1950s Hollywood bad boy James Dean with $3.5 million.
"Peanuts" creator Charles Schulz, whose cartoons are still syndicated in thousands of newspapers worldwide seven years after his death, came third with 35 million dollars, ahead of Albert Einstein with 18 million.
Also making the list this year are Andy Warhol at No. 6, Dr Seuss creator Theodor Geiselat No. 7; and Marilyn Monroe at No. 8.
