THE APOSTOLIC MISSIVE II

Greetings to the Beloved of Christ!

It is with a sense of reverence and humility that I anticipate the Centennial Holy Convocation. In my fiftieth year of preaching, I am pleased to serve the church during its one hundredth year of Pentecostal ministry!

May we lose sight of everything, but the glory and honor of our God. May we join in love, unity, and peace as we deliberate God’s grace extended to the Church of God in Christ over the last one hundred years. Fasting is clearly mandated both by scripture and in the tradition of our great church. I am calling upon all to join in 21 days of fasting and rededication beginning Monday, October 15, 2007, until Monday, November 5, 2007. We will fast each day until 3:00 P.M. Some may drink liquids or vary schedules as necessary for health, medical or personal reasons. I pray that all will join in some way in this time of consecration. May God cleanse His people to serve Him in Holiness and may we receive a new outpouring of spiritual power and anointing.

The General Assembly has approved that each COGIC member should contribute $20.00 annually to the General Church by November of each year. I cannot over estimate the importance of your cooperation and participation this year. I am also confident that all Bishops, Superintendents, and Pastors will lead their people in achieving a historic record of lay membership reports. Churches should gather these funds by Monday, October 15, 2007. And, bishops should be prepared to present these funds in the Holy Convocation.

May the God of life and peace keep you and grant to you grace to travel safely to the Centennial celebration.

Peace and Grace from Your Servant in Christ.

The Most Reverend Charles E. Blake
Presiding Bishop
CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, INC.
