Namibia: Spanish Opera At NTN This Week

The National Theatre of Namibia in collaboration with the Spanish Cooperation will tomorrow present the 'Spanish Opera Evening' with Jesùs Quilez (Tenor), Alfredo Garcia (Baritone) and Sara Almazan (Pianist) at the National Theatre of Namibia.

Advance tickets are available at NTN Box Office at N$50 or alternatively at the door for N$60. Doors open at 19h00 and the show starts at 20h00.

 

Jesùs Quilez (Tenor): Was born in Zaragoza and studied music at the Arturo Soria Professional Conservatoire in Madrid. He completed his training and repertoire study in Vienna with Helena Lazarska, a professor in music at the Hochschule Für Musik in Vienna.

From 1989 to 1997, he was a member of the Zaragoza Lyrical Theatre, in which he has represented the protagonist tenor roles in works like "La Dolorosa", Los Claveles.

Alfredo Garcia (Baritone): Was born in Madrid, where he completed his studies at the Royal Advanced Music Conservatoire and at the Advanced School for Song. He was given the Madrid Friends of the Opera Award, the Musical Youth Award and the Gonzalez Guerro Award at the Maestro Alonso International Competition in Spain. He has performed alongside the Hungarian Philarmonic Orchestra Budabest, Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte (Guguielmo, in Cluj, Romania). In Spain, he has given first performances to the role of Mauregato in Schubert's Opera Alfonso und Estrella with the Moscow Virtuosos.

Trips through Europe have taken him to Germany, Australia, Italy and Slovenia with the Savaria Symphonic Orchestra, singing Contemporary music, and to Poland with a series of concerts, interpreting works by J Strauss with the Kylze Symphonic Orchestra.

Sara Almazan (Pianist): Was born in Zaragoza, Spain where she started piano lessons under Jesùs Gutierrez. She underwent her music training in Australia with studies in pedagogy and vocal repertoire, working with masters such as Geral Zeller, Christine Whitlesey at the University of Music an Scenetic Arts of Vienna and Gaz.

She has on various occasions participated with the contemporary music diffusion group, "Artesonanz" in Australia and given first performance to various works by the Viennese composers, Roland Neuwirth and Alfred Polansky.
