Sarah McLachlan donates $150,000 video production fund to development charities in Africa.
On Oprah's Radar
Rather than use the $150,000 production fund to film an elaborate video for 'World on Fire,' Sarah McLachlan and director Sophie Muller opted instead to donate the money to a list of 11 charities. The total cost of the video was nothing more than the cost of a CD. McLachlan's good will caught the eye of fellow benefactor Oprah Winfrey, who invited the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter to perform the song on her show. "I love this," Winfrey said. "It's about getting every one of us to look inside of ourselves to see, 'What can I do?'"
p2pnet.net News:- "Dear Sarah McLachlan," writes Canada's Russell McOrmond.
"I would like to congratulate you on the amazing message that you convey with the video for 'World on Fire'. You were able to getting people to donate their time to bring the costs of the video down to $15, and then to donate the $150,000 that it is estimated it would normally have cost to sustainable-development charities in Africa.
