STELLAR AWARDS HELD: Kirk Franklin, Byron Cage & CeCe Winans co-hosted; Clark Sisters walk away

STELLAR AWARDS HELD: Kirk Franklin, Byron Cage & CeCe Winans co-hosted; Clark Sisters walk away with four wins.
 
  The 23rd Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, hosted by Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans and Bryon Cage, was recently held at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

      The event honored The Clark Sisters with four wins and new comer DeWayne Woods with three wins.

      Co-host CeCe Winans was saluted by Amy Grant and Heather Headley with the "Chevrolet Most Notable Achievement Award."

      Meanwhile, co-host Franklin won "Special Event CD of the Year" for his "Kirk Franklin presents Songs from the Storm, Volume 1." The Clark Sisters, credited for bringing Gospel to mainstream, won "Artist of thee Year," "Group/Duo of the Year," "CD of the Year," and "Traditional Group/Duo of the Year" for their "Live-One Last Time" reunion album.

      Woods won "New Artist of the Year" and "Male Vocalist of the Year" for his "Introducing DeWayne Woods & When Singers Meet."

      Other winners include The Rance Allen Group with "Quartet of the Year" for their "Closest Friend" album. The Caravans and The Barrett Sisters received the "Walgreen Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award." Tramaine Hawkins won the "James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award" for "I Never Lost My Praise."
