Liberia: Gospel Musicians to Hold Award Nite Sunday


The Christian Community and lovers of gospel music are expected to jam pack the Samuel Kanyan Doe (SKD) Sports Complex in Paynesville City, outside of Monrovia this Sunday to witness the annual gospel music awards night organized by Liberia Association of Gospel Musical Artists (LAGMA).

LAGMA's President, Mrs. Mochline Broh-Dweh, who walked into the offices of The INQUIRER on Thursday said during the ceremony, 12 categories of awards would be presented to the best of the best gospel musicians.

According to her, awards would be given to the best Praise and Worship Album of the year; best Inspiration recorded Song of the year; best vernacular song of the year; best Praise and Worship Song of the year and best Inspiration Album of the year.

Mrs. Dweh further stated that awards would also be given to the best Female Vocalist, best Male Vocalist, best Performer, best Lyric best Song and the best Children's Album of the year.

The LAGMA boss said the awards night would feature 24 members of LAGMA who launched their newest albums between the period of September 2006 and September 2007. She said some of the artists would include Decontee Ballah, Izetta Saydu, Miracle Kettor, Ablakolo Toe, Kanvee Gains-Adams, little Geneva Togba, Elizabeth Cooke and the Miraculous Kids, amongst others.

According to her, gospel DJs and engineers from all of the radio stations would be honored during the ceremony for their contribution in promoting gospel music in the country, while LAGMA all stars album would also be launched.

She explained that several personalities from the government and the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) are expected to grace the occasion. She added that entrance fees at the program include US$10 for VIP, L$ 200 for Stadium Wing and L$ 75 for Around the field.
