After an eight-year retirement, Tina Turner kicked off her "Tina Turner Live" tour at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. on Oct. 1.
Performing for the first time in almost a decade isn't the only thing the 'What's Love Got To Do With It' singer is doing.
The 68-year-old singer also broke her silence and addressed the controversy surrounding her appearance with Beyoncé Knowles on the 50th anniversary of the Grammy Awards where they performed together for the first time.
The day after the Grammy telecast, the 66-year-old 'Respect' singer released a statement that said: "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé. However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."

Turner told USA Today that she wasn't surprised by Franklin 's overreaction to the incident.
"Aretha has always been like that. We've always accepted that from her. She's the queen of soul, and I'm the queen of rock 'n' roll. There were so many kings and queens there that night. Her ego must be so big to think she was the only one," she laughed. "That's how queens are!"
"Tina Turner Live" will play 22 cities in the U.S. through Dec. 6, with the last show being in Hartford, Conn.
The tour then goes international, playing Canada, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, England, France and Ireland.
The concert is 150 minutes, includes a 30-minute intermission, and features Turner tunes like 'Better Be Good To Me,' 'Private Dancer,' 'We Don't Need Another Hero,' 'Let's Stay Together,' 'Proud Mary,' and 'Nutbush City Limits.'

1. I thought Aretha's comment at the time smacked of being self absorbed, and had no problem with Tina Turner getting her due. Can there really be that much insecurity after the career she's had? Then again, Aretha used to at least be close to looking like Tina Turner,... 10 years ago, in Jet Magazine, anyway.

2. Hey, I think Aretha should think how blessed she is, because she's still around to get some RESPECT. Tina has an aura of peace' about her, which I feel Aretha has yet to experience. Also Tina is almost 70 and on the road. Folks clamor for her tickets, including me. I'm sitting in the upper nosebleed section just to see her in Dallas later on this month. Aretha, live and play nice. You two are living legends. Rejoice in that.

3. Why is this nonsense still being talked about almost a year later? Tina shouldn't have even addressed it after all this time. Move on.

4. I wonder why Tina Turner would bring this up now that it is time for her to head out on tour?
I'm still shock that she thinks she's the Queen of Rock and Roll. I think many Janis Joplin fans will take her to task over that.
Aretha=Queen Elton John=Queen but Tina? LOL

Janis Joplin was a Tina Turner's fan ¡ and Janis was influenced by Tina, so you should study rock and roll history before write thing like this¡¡¡ ignorant ¡¡ TINA IS THE FIRST ROCK AND ROLL SINGER IN HISTORY even Elton John said that ¡¡¡¡

6. Demetrius, it appears you need a little history on Tina Turner the Queen of Rock n Roll. First Tina had noteable hits Before anyone heard of the queen of soul. a fool in love which i remember from a child. aretha may hav been singing during 1961 durin the time i remember Ike n tina turner but tina was slamin rock n roll and no other woman could touch her. janis joplin.that drug head never stayed sober enough to be crowned anything. janis is amy whinehouse today, drugged out. tina was not about drugs tina survived what other female artist rock is still puttin out such energy? and HITS? mast appeal in europe? and sellout statiums aretha can not draw a crowd like tina. Aretha is no doubt perhaps to some folks queen of soul, however Patti Gladys Chaka cannot be taken lighly when it comes to Soul. they r All Queens..even the soft singers Diana Dionne Bababra the latter being legendary as Ross Warwick and Stresiand had hits LONG before anyone heard of Aretha. Ross w/supremes 12 no.pop, another 6 on her own..warwick hits 1962-164 Streisand 1962-80s aretha did not hit until she did a cover(not even original Respect 1 of only 2 no. 1 pop songs belonged to Oits Redding who wrote the song)Arethas Ego matches her girth. both out of control and need to be checked. she needs to be concerned that she will even be around to wear a crown at the rate shes eating. Like Tina said "there were kings and queens there, her ego is so big she thinks shes the only one?" so very true. example True Real Queens, Queen of England, Queen of France both Queens neither out rank the other because its two different countries..Soul and Rock n Roll is two different generes. Turner n Franklin do not sing the same type of music..duhhhhh
